Rob is a psychological suspense novelist who writes in a claustrophobic style with complex characters and dysfunctional plot-driven relationships...focusing
on strong female leads. His stories take place in one main location. In doing so, they have an unimpeded, raw vantage point from which extraneous storytelling trappings are scrapped away, leaving only naked truth and nowhere to hide.
"I have always been fascinated by what motivates obsessive people…the underbelly actions that run deeper into their psyche than they admit. Peering into that imperfection is an intriguing place to travel, a natural pairing with my love of storytelling".
Rob's storytelling skills were honed while attending the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, refined as a news writer at WCBS Newsradio 88 in Manhattan, polished as a columnist for La Estrella de Panamá, and sophisticated as a screenwriter and co-producer of the feature film One Evening. Rob was also the host of three syndicated Television food series. In addition, he is currently the host and producer of the YouTube Channel "Our 1905 Cottage."
Rob has an enormous dislike for sameness and a never-ending desire to do things differently, the quintessential soul of writing, the finely woven fabric that ignites emotions and charges impulses...defining who and what we are during our short and fragile existence.
Growing up, Rob knew he loved the arts and self-expression. But like most young people, he wasn't sure how to apply it or what he wanted to be. His first job was as a radio announcer at WEHH-FM in Horseheads, New York.
After graduating from New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, he was a sales manager at WHEC-TV, a CBS affiliate owned by Gannett Newspapers in Rochester, New York. Ten years later Gannett devested their complement of seven radio and seven television stations, partially funding the creation of the USA TODAY newspaper. And Rob was out of a job.
Driven further, Rob founded and was the CEO of KIRCHER & ASSOCIATES, INC., a full-service international marketing, advertising and public relations firm with offices in Rochester, New York; Greenville, North Carolina; and Panama City, Republic of Panama. The firm represented well-known brands in the appliance, soft drink, wine, and telecommunication businesses. While living in Panama, Rob was a columnist at La Estrella de Panamá, the oldest daily newspaper in Panama, and penned the column: Through My American Eyes.
When asked who his favorite authors were in an interview, he replied,
“Letter writers.”
